Borne out of the need to experiment and push boundaries, Psy-Breaks is the result of fusing the psychedelic elements of trance with nu-school breaks, creating a mutant genre that simply destroys dancefloors. This type of music can best be described as groovy, with a positive mystic vibe, intertwined with the hi-octane dubby approach that makes breaks so appealing. Eschewing the constant thumping style associated with trance music Psy-Breaks Is emerging as a new style gaining massive popularity in the underground. Don’t be the last to find out about this truly mind bending genre, converting thousands of party goers and influencing promoters to change their music policy to reflect demand
Anyone who went to the Archangel Stage at this year’s Waveform festival will know that they work with some of the UK’s most talented up & coming bands, DJs, and producers. This November they have teamed up with Nu-School Hippies to present Citybreaks does Psy, a night to explore some of the most cutting edge musical dimensions occurring within the electronic music scene today.
In November Jamm will be the place to discover the effects of exploring cross overs between Psy-Breaks, Nu-School Breaks, Dub n’ Breaks and Electro. Partygoers will also be able to experience the pioneering sounds of dubstep and hear it evolve into Nocturnal, Minimal/Progressive beats towards the later hours. With so much variety on offer your ears will be spoilt for choice.
In the NSH Room live band Subsource will get the night rocking with their energetic show playing the dirtiest breakbeats mixed with electronica, & Drum n Bass. Currently touring the UK whilst putting the finishing touches to their highly anticipated debut album, Subsource played at Glastonbury this year and absolutely tore the place up to go with another mesmerizing performance at Waveform which took everybody to their happy dancing place. For everyone who loved their recent single ‘This Town’ on Spinout Records their show promises to be too good to miss.
Also playing on the night will be Far Too Loud, a breakbeat DJ/ production collective whose sound epitomizes Psy-Breaks with their mix of heady psychedelia, tough bass lines, and heavy funk, perfect for serious partying and head bopping. Their latest release Louder Than Life Vol. 3 shows why they have appeared as guests on Radio 1, Kiss FM, and Ministry of Sound Radio. Since debuting in 2005 they have gone from strength to strength and are sure to keep thoroughly entertained.
If George Clinton and Syd Barrett had a love child born in the late eighties who grew up listening to electronica, Jaberwok is what he would sound like. Their mission is to bring live music back to clubs and with their unique and dirty take on Funk and Rock. Witnessing their live show offers a glimpse into what their long awaited debut album will sound like.
For those that have been living under a rock for the past few years Citybreaks does Psy offers a chance to come down and see what all the fuss regarding Psy-Breaks, Breaks, and Dubstep is all about.
In the Alternative Room Dubstep acts like Appleblim, Nagual Sound Experiment and Sick Rebel will take the crowd on a journey through Dubstep with Electro, Glitch-Hop, and Psy opening people’s ears to the possibilities of all these genres been thrown into a bubbling melting pot.
Citybreaks regular DJ Freshold will keep the vibes flowing through the night with his impressive vinyl, CD and laptop based beat weaving skills. Freshold has started making his name as a producer now with his explosive track ‘Bring It On’ released in January assaulting the dancefloor.
With many more acts on the night showcasing their original sounds there will be something there for everyone. Adding to the experience award winning video production crew the Pixel Addicts (Responsible for cutting edge production at events like The Synergy Project / Twisted Records and many other international festivals) will be handling the visual production alongside Inside-Us-All showing why they were voted 6th best VJ crew in the world [2006 DJ magazine]
This is a night for the music lover who wants to hear fresh new exciting music and party with laidback friendly people, it’s also a mini reunion party for everyone who went to the Waveform festival, so if you like your music dirty with some electro, dubstep, breaks, funk and psychedelia thrown in then come to Jamm on the 10th November and vibe with us!
Being one of the main organisers of Waveform Festival we were chuffed win the prestigious Greener Festival award at the 2008 UK Festival Awards.
The Award is based on a seven part questionnaire which covers event management, travel and transport plans, CO2 emissions, fair trade, waste management and recycling, water management and noise pollution. Points are awarded for festivals which can show an active plan to promote public transport, reduce on-site waste, recycle and compost wherever possible, re-use water and use sustainable power. Festivals are expected to have a coherent environmental policy and we have environmental auditors who visit as many festival sites as possible to assess how festivals implement their plans.
Thanks to all our crew, bands, MCs, DJs & VJs for helping to make Waveform such a huge success
You can see reviews and pictures of the festival on www.festivalweather.com and www.efestivals.co.uk
